The Impact of Vehicle Ownership on Carbon Emissions in the Transportation Sector

As one of the important sources carbon emissions, transportation industry should be given attention. This study investigates relationship between vehicle ownership, economic growth, and environmental pressure on Chongqing (CQTI) based CQTI data, then constructs a comprehensive regression model couples EKC curve Tapio for integrated analysis, finally LEAP-Chongqing to forecast from multiple perspectives. The innovations are that multi-model examines effects different variables has better classification modes in scenario simulation. results show that: (1) there is an inverse N-shaped car CQTI; (2) every 1% output, urbanization rate, or ownership will cause 0.769%, 0.111%, 0.096% emission change, respectively; (3) gasoline, diesel aviation kerosene consumption account 80–90%, private cars 41–52% energy structure unreasonable; (4) multi-scenario simulation saving reduction effect single policy not satisfactory, integration measures strengthened.
